Is the virtual of virtual technologies the Deleuzian virtual?

Gilles Deleuze has become a key reference for the recent debate on virtual technologies, as his conception of is widely used to argue reality virtuality. Nonetheless some scholars, among which Slavoj Žižek stands out, have warned about risks flattening Deleuzian concept tech debate. This paper aims show why two concepts do not overlap by explaining features that make it incompatible with media. Namely, its intensive dimension, relationship possible and imperceptible nature. The will also claim how differentiating opens up wider applications while, at same time, lightening ontological burden, allowing approach issues technologies from more fruitful perspective – say, their pictorial functioning.
